The basics of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)!
It is time to think of SEO in simple terms.
You can’t ignore SEO – the opportunity to increase your Website traffic is right at your fingertips. You may believe that there is just too much involved and that the results are not worth the time or dollars spent to implement. But as you will see, it can be a huge traffic generator for virtually zero cost.
SEO is a very simple process and the results and credibility that SEO provides for your site is well worth it. “Why?” do you ask? Well, let’s look at some statistics. More than 75% of all Web site traffic comes from search engines. And, most searchers do not go beyond the second page of their search results. If you aren’t using SEO to get your position on the first two pages, your Web site traffic could be a fourth of its potential.
What is SEO?
According to Internet.com’s webopedia – SEO is short for search engine optimization, the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic toward the site.
Where do I start?
There are three components that are at the center of SEO:
1) keywords
2) content
3) links
Keywords are the most important component and could prove to be the most valuable. Figure out what keywords your site visitors are searching on and integrate throughout your Web site.
Content is an easy way to keep your site fresh, up-to-date and to utilize your keywords so your site doesn’t become stale within the search engines and lose ranking.
Search engines use the number of inbound links to your site to increase your ranking. The more related the links are to your site the better the value to the search engines. Now that you have used keywords and content to tell the search engines about your site, it is time to utilize links to your site to increase your importance to the search engines.
With these three components, you can completely change the value and importance of your Web site with little to no increase in Web site expense. You can begin to capture as much of the potential traffic that is available for your Web site. It is time to begin thinking of SEO as the main foundation to a good Web site.
